5/2/2006 –GS – Diamond in the Rough, Parts –
GS  -- Womens Wear Daily – Axis

Wore:  Jeans, light green sweater set

I had 2 go-sees today..  the first from dani for Diamond in the Rough with Isabella, a very Italian (no accent) long brown hair, pretty, 5’6” lady.  They looked at my book and hands.  Very friendly.  I flubbed and said I was a size 7 when they asked my ring size..then I corrected myself and said I was flustered from driving into the city that morning…they laughed at me for driving and I explained that I had to go to NJ next..

And off I went to Hackensack NJ to Freeze Frame Studios for a go-see for Womens Wear Daily.  Apparently this studio shoots with them on a weekly basis so it could be somewhat steady work, that would rock…   and it only took 45 minutes to get there..   and getting home was uber easy over the gwbridge.  This gosee was from Sharon at Axis and they have a new assistant there named Ashley.  Should send her a welcome hello.  At the go-see was a guy named John –

Said he really liked my hands, took a comp card and a few digital pictures.

5/3/2006 – GS – Dawn – Carmen

Wore:  Jeans, light green sweater set, hair in ponytail

Go-see at John Mano Studio.  John – shorter than I am, blond/grey hair that is thicker and fuller but still above his ears.  He took a comp card and my magnet (loved the magnet) and said he liked the way the pics looked…I was basically holding a sponge on a pot.  Saw john a last December for a Gillette go-see, much chattier then.  This time he seemed friendly but a bit distracted.  Still really nice.

Hal Vincent – account supervisor – went to u of r then to vcu.  Lived on the builvard acrss from the art museum.  Met his wife there.  Worked at martin agency then moved to nyc then to tampa.  Loves Richmond got married at the valentine museum.  Gave him a magnet.

Brett Alexander – sr. producer – from nj now lives in tampa.  Little shorter than me, blondish spikey hair, blue eyes, really nice.

studio:  arf, director alex

1.  two hands – sprinkling cheese over sizzling steak

2.  right hand – setting down sizzling plate

3.  left hand – stirring melted cheese

1st shot was rather difficult to get.  We did get 2 perfect takes in a row though the 3rd one was elusive.  Argh.  Made me a little pissed at myself but I tried to not let it show.  It was just irritating because the cheese kept clumping up.   Finally the clients went to reply the 2 good ones and Kenny worked with me on a new position.  He found that the position that I was in was causing the problem..it was fairly awkward with me standing to the left of the camera with my right arm going up and over and down so my right hand could come in from that side of the plate while the left came in from the other..  Kenny told alex this as he walked back up and alex said ‘nope, check the gate, we already got the shot’     he said it was fine, but argh…where was that 3rd take.  I just hate having to waste all that film.

2nd shot they thought would be difficult – heavy hot plate and I had to set it down with this crazy set downer contraption.  It was pretty cool.  The shot was a lot easier than I though.  They were happy with almost every take.  And we bammed them out.

3rd shot – beautiful set of cheese and me stirring melted cheese in a pot.  The stir that they liked was the one where I had my fingers wrapped around the spoon and kept the round part under the cheese.

At the end of the day, mark gave me a box of champagne truffles and said that I did an excellent job.  He also said that not only do ihave beautiful hands I have a beautiful personality that makes me great to have on set.    Wow.    what a great way to end the day.  Everyone LOVED the hand job t-shirt.  They thought it was hysterical.

Tom DellaFave – pa – just started snowboarding, been longboarding for 5 years.  Wrote, directed and acting in a horror film..now in the editing stage, wants to take it to festivals.  Reluctant but feels he will have to move to LA sooner or later.

Lisa DeFalco – prod manager – last Friday of june is her last day    she is so positive.

Ric – tall, broader, thick dark hair, beard (not bushy) was really nice and complimentary of my book and hands.  Gave him a magnet which he loved.  Had me pose for the VV shots and then some other things that is he shooting soon.  He has a section of his website where you can guess which setups go with which and if you do you get a print.  I guessed one correctly and he is sending me a print.  He was impressed that I took the time to go over the setups with his prints, said most people don’t read that far.

I didn’t book the job but he sent me an email saying that he hoped to work with me soon.

John’s studio is great.  Loves his propery.  Really cute town.  Daughter hayley – adorable. Likes cows, frogs and horses in that order. In 4rth grade.  Showed me her ‘pet’ frog buddy and her pet rat yoko.  Went on a walk around their countryside..beautiful, water fall..reminded me of home landscape.  Took me to lunch at a local diner where they knew the owner.  Delicious.

John is with Atlas Talent – does only promos now.  Hates beating the pavement.  Worked as a waiter in nyc and hated it said he wasn’t the right temperament for it.  Likes to work from home so he can sit on his porch.  Has one radio station that he promos for in la for 80 grand a year..one client…80 grand.  I am working for that day.

Deborah is with access talent – she used to do a lot of commercials when she lived in nyc, said it was the heyday.  She bought a co-op with the money.

Very lovely family.  Trip took 45 min to get to grand central and then an hour from there on metro north.  Easy ride.

Angeleno Magazine

I worked on a great food story for the May issue of Angeleno Magazine. The magazine is a subsidiary of Modern Luxury Publications and can be found in stores in LA and on a limited basis around the rest of the country. I'm crossing my fingers that my LA LA friends are able to find a copy. There are some really fun shots with lobsters, truffles and the most delicious cheese that I have ever experienced.

Degree & Pillsbury

I just spotted another vesion of the Degree UltraClear commercial I lent a hand on. A woman dives out of her window so she can slip into her little black dress sans those pesky white streaks. :)

and I am having a fabulous birthday with one of my favorite production companies. We are shooting a Pillsbury commercial today. The Dough Boy had the day off so instead of getting to poke him I will be ripping apart delicious smelling croissants.
