:) This makes me smile because back in college at James Madison University we theatre folks got really into the 6 degrees of kevin bacon (as it was called back then) and there were always long streams of connections going - this person to that etc. Ahhh the days of the vax.

Scotch Fur Fighter

3M has done it again! They knocked my socks off and have saved all the walls in this apartment with the Command Strips

I have pretty much everything in this apartment up with those wonderful devices, they work great for everything from hanging pictures to hanging hooks for heavy winter coats, plus they are a breeze to take down and move! Leaving NO HOLES behind. I loce them.. so I was very excited to lend a hand on another 3M Product - the Scotch Fur Fighter.


I'll admit, I had an ulterior motive when I went to set that day.... I wanted to know how these things worked! You see, when I moved up to NYC I had to leave my cat behind with my mom. When I finally got an apartment where I could have Sortia (my kitty) well, that was when I found out that my mom had catnapped her! She had fallen in love with her though she was heavily against all the cat hair that now covered her favorite chair. Duct tape was pretty much the only thing that worked and that was quite a project to make work.. time, effort & a lot of duct tape for a clean chair up until Sortia would leap back into HER chair.
So I was very excited to see if there was finally going to be a product out on the market that could help!

When it came time to demonstrate the product on shoot day, you could feel every person on set leaning in to get a closer look. Would it work? Would it clear a line on the fur covered sofa? Action was called and I did the sweep and could hear the excited gasps from all around - IT WORKED! There was a completely clean streak going down the center of the cushion. ALL the hair was up. I flipped the product over and there was all the hair, nice and neatly stuck to the pad. WOW. WOW. Everything was reset and we did it again and it worked again and again. I had no problems in picking up any fur that was in the path of the Fur Fighter.

After the successful day, I was anxious to get down to VA to surprise my mom. Sadly I could not seem to get a photo of her favorite chair that showed how covered it was in cat hair. Her chair is brown and it would just not show the hair in any of the pics that I took. She has been complaining for YEARS about how she has lost her favorite chair to my cat. Every time she sits in it..she gets covered. So I called her into her room and pointed out her chair to which she gave a disgusted grunt and said 'cat hair, hrmph!' I then pulled out the FF and she raised one eyebrow (i wish i was talented enough to do that) and grunted and said 'yeah, nothing works, you can try.' She sighed, being very dramatic, and crossed her arms and stood waiting to be disappointed. I did one swipe and suddenly she perked up, she peered down and ran her finger across the chair where I had just swiped. She grabbed the FF out of my hands and looked at the bottom of it. She looked at her chair again. She looked at the FF again. Then in a very VERY quiet voice she said 'It's a miracle' and then she stood silently in awe. My mother NEVER stands silently in awe. So YEAH! Thank you 3M for giving me the opportunity to learn about the FF so I could impress my mother. You have made her a very happy woman. She called me the other day to tell me she was sitting in her chair in BLACK pants - That hasn't happened since she catnapped my baby 5 years ago.

Part of the college experience....

I'm back in college.. well, in print anyways! I got a hysterical text message the other day from my roommate wondering if I was stalking her - apparently I was staring at her from her Majority Minority textbook in one of her classes. She snapped a pic and sent it to me and sure enough there I was on the page of her book.
HA! I had forgotten about these photos. Back when I first started modeling after college I had done a stock photo shoot and as it is with those types of shoots never knew if anything had happened with the photos. Well, they surfaced again in my roomies textbook. Giggle.


back in my blond days. :) I'm the gal with my hands crossed over my knees in the front row. My roommate said the blond hair threw her off for a moment though when she looked closely at the hands, she knew it was me. giggle.

Ah yes, I've finally done it. One of the blue liquid shots :) For this shot we had to pour, dab and then wring the pad. I worked with another fantastic hand model, Kara (she and I sometimes get paired because our hands are similar in size and coloring.) Everything had to be done at exactly the same time, in the same way. She and I would kick butt at a mirroring exercise, giggle.

I had the "Hero" product (the Poise pad) and she was with the competitors brand. I had to compete with the camera for space (it started on my side) and do all the actions with my left hand. I'm a rightie though in this business, you've gotta be able to perform with either hand.

6/25/08 – TV – Dawn “Latin Lover” – Carmen – dbl scale  

was very nervous for this shoot as I walked in with a small cut on the back of my right hand (the normal money hand!)  got to set and was weighing my options, do I call Carmen?  Do I tell the AD?  Will I be able to cover it?  I peeked in the dressing room and found to my utter relief that there were 3 face girls AND 2 makeup artists.  2 very talent makeup artists.  I sneaked in and asked the blond, Michelle what she thought and she said ‘no worries, I can cover that!’  sweet relief.  The manicurist donna did my nails in 2 coats of sugar daddy and michelle covered my wound and birthmark and I was ready to rock.  Everyone on the set was amazing and turned out I had worked with quite a few of the crew guys on other stuff and they remembered me and were happy to work with me again.

The hand caress shot was oddly difficult to get!  I had to rub my hands around like I did for the Lysol shot though it was after dunking my hands repeatedly in the dawn soap..this soap is supposed to make hands look amazing after 5 uses.  I had to promise not to add lotion or any oils after dunking..  what made it hard to rub my hands together was the fact that they were sticky and it wasn’t a smooth rub.  I found that holding something cold helped to freeze away the tackiness.  Certain shots were difficult positions though everyone was uber nice in helping me find them and making sure I had ample rest time between shots.

Daedra Kaehler – other makeup artist.  Shorter than me, really athletic, totally fit, straight brown hair, brown eyes..the kinder one in the relationship.  The two of them are redoing a house upstate.  They have 2 dogs.  

Sonja Francis – lead – we did the snuggle spot together.  German, dark brown hair to shoulders, layers, really pretty, big smile.  

Kate Gersten – friend of lead – long curly blond hair (dyed) blue eyes.  Big smile, really outgoing.  Going to brazil if the strike happens.  

Elaine Goode – sorta Hispanic, short curly brown hair, really cute, brown eyes, told me about where to go for laser hair removal.

Lightning Bugs & a new Veramyst ad

The weather is perfect. Ideal, beautiful. I love NYC in the 70's. I love open windows. & I love getting surprised by a lightning bug flashing up right in front of my computer screen as the internet page loads and there is my hand in an advertisement on the side panal!
WEEE! I've been looking for this ad for awhile.

American Hero Shoot + go-see

 6/19/08 – Print – Gallery Shoot? – Gilla Roos, David - $200

photographer – Phil Marco – 50’s?, shorter than me, large build (not fat) mustache with grey in it, glasses, losing hair on top, slightly disheveled grayish dark hair (can tell it is graying)  really nice.  Gives hug and kiss on cheek at end.

Shoot was me holding a folded American flag in my lap with my hands on top, little girl (leah) held my hand for some shots, and layed her head on flag for some shots.  Widow of a soldier shot.  I kept her occupied during the shoot with chat about swimming and her favorite animals.  Phil thanked me for keeping her focused.  For a portfolio piece for Phil..gonna use it in a gallery show.  said he would give me a copy.  Also said he wanted to test with me in the future.  Shoot took from 10am-11:30am..actually from 10:30 on..  david roos gave me the wrong start time, phil didn’t expect me till 10:30.  good morning..

Then went on a go-see for verizon through fft (Charlie) wore jeans, green short sleeve – really quick- in and out..took two pics, kept two comps.  Super fast!

6/18/08 - Colavita Oil Oil - balsamic, bliss basalmic, olive oil, pasta sauce

1 – drizzle blish balsamic on nectarines and strawberries.  

2 –drizzle BB on vanilla icecream (chocolate underneath with a mint leaf)

3 – dip bread in olive oil

4 – pour olive oil on wooden spot

5 – drizzle B on salad

6 – toss salad

7 – drizzle OO on salad

8 – pick up tomato

9. set pasta bowl in place

10. spoon sauce on spaghetti

Balsamic comes out in a slower pour…this is even thicker than normal.  Easy to keep a very even pour and control the direction.  

Olive oil – nice slow controlled pour.  

Balsamic – comes out very fast and thick and harder to aim.  Pouring from a paper cup that has been folded to make a spout is the easiest.

The shoot went great.  The products were fairly easy to control and aim and get the proper speed.  Atmosphere was AWESOME.  Everyone rocked.  Very relaxed.   The clients were on set and great to chat with.  Everyone was really friendly and made the shoot easy.  Arrived at 8:30am left a lil after 4:30pm.  Great lunch – catered and they let everyone use the balsamic on all the sandwiches and stuff.  The bliss balsamic was AMAZING on the vanilla icecream.  I think perhaps, better than chocolate syrup.

A Boogie Turns into a Booking

One morning my roommate woke up with a very sad face and asked me to "Get Down in Full Effect" to brighten her morning. At first, I wasn't sure what she was asking so she pleadingly asked again "Please, Please Get Down in Full Effect." I can not turn away from one in need so up to my feet; I leaped and proceeded to Get Down in Full Effect. I shimmied, I cabbage patched, I robot-ed, I twisted, on and on. I even did the elephant (a very obscure, little known dance!)

After just a few minutes she was smiling and I was inspired to keep rocking away and after 5 minutes she was laughing and after 10 minutes she was joining in for an impromptu dance in the living room. It was hysterical and a wonderful way to start the morning.
Shortly after I left for New Jersey to shoot a commercial for Snuggle. I had no idea what I was going to be doing as they booked me directly from my headshot for a young mom type of role. When I walked into the studio, they directed me to the mark on the floor and gave me the direction to do my happy dance. I started laughing and asked if that could also mean for me to Get Down in Full Effect, my roommates phrase was loved by all and they said YES YES!

The music started blaring and I started shaking and bopping.
By the time I finished, everyone (including myself) was crying from laughing so hard and then it was time to go again. Good thing I had gotten warmed up that morning! What a fun day

Hand Model InStyle April 08'

YEAH!!! The Hand Modeling shots that were supposed to be in the March issue of InStyle showed up in April’s! I was very excited to find the mag today after being sorely dissapointed that the shots were not used after that endless though very fun (cuz the people were great) day on set.. I think I got out of there around 10pm at night after starting at 9am!!! Good thing I was working with such wonderful peeps and I am very excited with the end result. I’m loving these shots!  I got a new nickname on my shoot the other day... giggle giggle

The photographer came over and said he was going to call me The Sniper from now on. The Sniper? um..... Quizzically, I glanced up from my under my arms (I was positioned with my elbows on a rest and hands up holding the product and my head bowed way down? The Sniper?? Um?

He laughed and said "You are The Sniper because you can hold your hands so steady and you always get the shot!"

Just caught the Poise spot on TV!! The commercial starts with some gals out doing some shopping and the adventure turns to giggles when one dresses up in this pink boa sweatery thing -- heh heh.. thank goodness for Poise

Handy Spotting

I was down in the Battery Park area a month or so ago and had a lovely surprise sighting of a Hamilton Beach display outside of Century 21!!!! I was heading to the Staten Island Ferry for a ride with a friend and found myself staring up at my hands in the large window display. quite a fun moment :)



The end of the summer was fantastic with a few trips out to LA :) and I am still amazed that it is almost HALLOWEEN!!! Time flies. I've gotten to work with so many wonderful people in so many interesting places over the past few months and consider myself so fortunate to be able to lend a hand on so many fantastic projects.

Keep an eye out for tv spots for Poise, Veramyst, Cranium & Oil of Olay where you can find me pouring, spraying, playing & lotioning. Looking forward to sharing the tears and spots as I find copies.

Ugly NY Meeting

 Today I headed out (after the gym of course) to get my hair cut and blown out.  Oksana can make magic with my hair and I always like for her to make it perfect when I have big things happening.  After that was over, I called up Geri at UglyNY to see if I could come in early for my appointment.  She was very gracious and said sure, whenever..so I walked on down to 26^th street and head on in, feeling great with my hair all wavy and bouncy.  ☺

Geri Lynn Prentiss is a lovely African American woman with a really cute short hairstyle.  Very vivacious and friendly.  Loved everyone in the office immedietly.  They really made me feel great about working with them.

Great aunt is 80 and still modeling.  Just did a fashion show at an old folks home.  Has 8 year old daughter who just did a hand shoot for jewlrey.

They all loved my books and want some actual plainer (not so pretty) pics of all of me for their CP division.  Simon said that I could make up cards for $150 for 75 cards or we could start using the ones that I have.  I suggested starting with what I have.  I think they are going to put me on the website for free.  

I am really excited about this agency.  I think they are going to push to get their dept up and running in NYC and I feel that I will be taken care of and that I will be a priority for them to get for the casting.  This will be a way for me to get in on more face opportunities.  I am very excited.  Geri also said that if I see a campaign that I feel I am right for that I should call her and tell her and she will find out who does it and try and get me in.  This feels like a real agency relationship.  Yah…

Gave everyone my magnets and they love them.    

Then went to print ny and proofed my hand comps.  They look wonderful and I know are going to print fantastically.  I am so excited to get them back early next week.  They are going to bump me waaaaaayyyy up in the world o’ d’ hands.  Now I’ve just got to get cracking on getting the out.  Project for this weekend.  Address the envelopes ☺

Dunkin' Donuts - BG - 4/20/2007

Today was a good day a great day a fabulous day.  My fabulous new roomie and I left our fabulous new apartment in the fabulous early hours to go work out at the fabulous warehouse style gym 3 blocks away (I could easily imagine the equipment cleared and in the center of the place - a big ole boxing ring.)

And that start turned into a beautiful drive on a beautiful day with only merge traffic at the GW Bridge.  I find a lot of people haven’t grasped the whole zipper effect in merging.  So simple and yet so far fetched to some.  They make a traffic sign with a giant zipper to put in areas of intense merge.  The day was too pretty too really care and there was a fun happy bum making some bucks from his bravado for dancing in the middle of the merge.  

The windows down, music up sunny day drive got me to an executive park in Fort Lee, NJ where I spent a highly entertaining 9 hours shooting background for a dunkin’ donuts commercial.   The first 6 hours were spent in holding hanging with one of my fave hand model guys.  One of my first jobs in the big bad city was with Jim and he really gave me a lot of fantastic advice.  There were about 25 of us backgrounders dressed all in black suits with white shirts and one dude in half a chicken costume hanging around.  We found a table with an impressive view of Fort Lee.  Um.  It was an impressive view, the building was up on the side of a mountain with huge windows…not too terribly much to look at..but impressive view of the world.  The cars and building below so small and seemingly insignificant.  Like you could just pick one up and toss it aside…which I would want to do later.  Want to do very badly..very badly indeed.

Chris and Neil joined us and the 6 hours flew by.  They were highly entertaining.  I made ¾ of an ugly hat.  Normally I can finish 2 or 3 on a day like that…  ¾.   Chris suggested I do comedy and I said I would love to though am held back because the only joke that I can remember is
”Where does the general keep his armies????”

Really really know??

yes.  That is the only joke that I can remember.  It is really pathetic.  Horrible so.  I hear a lot of jokes.  A lot of jokes.  And a lot of damn fine jokes.  Piss yourself in hysterical laughter jokes.  And I can’t remember them.  Not at all.  Not even a smidgen.  And it does make me sad.  I watched in amazed appreciation when people can just fire out jokes.  It is so impressive.     And there I am..  ‘general, armies, sleevies’  huh huh.  Uh.  Sigh.  

So I’m out on the comedy.  

A in the know PA walked by wearing that lovely green tee with PET SOUNDS scrolled across and all four of us responded simultaneously by either pointing, drawing out a yesssssssss, table smack of agreement or thumbs up.  Then all conversation quickly deteriorated into music talk.  It was great.  and my new friend chris turned out to be a bass player.  He’s in a band called mad larry with two of the guys from the bogmen and they pretty regularly in nYc so I’m going to go check them out in a few weeks and get a little Johnny cash rock n roll practice with the photos in.  It is pretty exciting they are going to be opening for the black crowes out in vegas.  

We had an amazing lunch after an incredible craft service table.  They had beluga soup.  What?  Seriously?  Yes.  Beluga lentil soup and it was mmm   mmmm delicious.  Big hunks of brie, lots of fruit.  Deeelish.  Lunch..Definetly yummies there though everything is overshadowed by the strawberry shortcake they had for dessert.  Oh goodness me.  Mmm mmm..  haven’t had strawberry shortcake since the Newport Folk Fest with Phil and Jeff.  I like strawberry shortcake a lot.   

At some point late in the day I got the happy booking call.  A few days ago I headed out to NJ for a go-see, who-C, you-C, me-C? for a nasal spray tv spot.  It was a great hand model catch up.   One of my fave girls just got engaged!  Yeah – happy.  So they took photos of all of us holding the product.  The client needed to see whose hand made it look the right size..whatever the ‘right’ size is. Not too big…Not too small.   Who knows.  I had written the go-see off since it was so late in the day and I knew that the shoot was on Monday.  Plus the other girls there are the tip tops and fun tippy who I shared a cab/PATH ride back with has simply incredible nails.  They are amazing.  She is a fun one.  Makes me realize how little I know about fashion.  I really should probably…maybe? be better at it.  I don’t know.  I just don’t know about bag names or labels beyond shirt/pant/dress.  I was recruited to help pick a pair of shoes to go with a beautiful sounding dress…metal colored dress.  That’s all I got.  I didn’t get the descriptions..nor did I understand the descriptions of the shoes.  I just picked the ostrich ones because –hey – ostrich.  Right.  Sounds like something.  Um.  Maybe I should learn about fashion.  Though I guess I am one step above tard.  At least I don’t wear bedroom slippers in place of shoes.  I bet her feet feel good all the time. 

To sum up – I am bad at fashion.

So back to the day …Eventually we were brought onto set where they placed us around a control tower type of room and as this guy shouted GO!GO!GO! we all had to hustle and bustle frantically about, pointing out this and grabbing that phone and GO!GO!GO! nonstop action.  I flapped my arms about in one rehearsal and they called it a perfect commotion take so I took that to mean that I should flap my arms in every take while scurrying about.  It was fun and quite an energy rush racing all about, a far cry from the shoot last week where I actually had to cry.  Tonight was fun.  And quick.  They shot that from a wide angle about 7 times and then they let 20 people go and they reshot tighter on the principles with the 5 of us scurrying about.  I made sure to flap my arms again. I think I like to flap my arms.  They shot that and it was a wrap.  The incredible view from the holding area showed the unfortunate sight of far too many of those little cars all stopped, not flowing into the GWbridge lanes as I had hoped they would be.  Traffic flowed in all other directions.  Everywhere except NY.  Miraculously the locations guy showed up and gave me a run down on the roads after I showed him the incredible traffic vantage point we were at.  You could actually see ALL the roads from where we stood.   He agreed with my statement of GW-Bad after assessing the situation and pointed out which road I should aim for.  In the parking lot, nancita computer confirmed some directions for me and then as I was pulling out of the exec parking lot, a traffic helper guy (I don’t know if he was actually one though he became one.  He had a car with yellow flashy lights so I waved at him and asked him out to get to NJtrpk.  He got onboard with the mission and drove me to the entrance of it.  Hells yeah.  Go traffic helper guy.  The roads wuz confusin’ and I woulda gotten lost.  So there I was crusin’ right away from all that traffic right on down the turnpike heading for my favored route to the city, the Holland tunnel.  I like it.  It is the way I remember entering the city on a bus with my mom when I was little.  Every year we would come to visit my grandparents and every year I was dragged along to the window displays.  Odd how things change.  Now I love the window displays.  I love Rockefeller center.  I love the tree.  

Anyway…so the drive back to the city was smooth sailing and I got to try the route from the willyB to my fabulous new apartment.  I’ve got a vague sense of the area and turned out that was all I needed and in no time at all I was pulling into rawkstar parking directly in front of my fabulous new apartment.
